I still think Let It Go is a bit overrated and I've definitely seen better looking animated films, but Frozen is a solid movie and fun for the whole family. Maybe it's the cold setting, but I prefer my fantasy worlds to be brimming with life and character. This might also be a nitpick, but I also felt the environment lacked a real presence Arendelle sort of gave me "Asgard" vibes, which means: devoid of people, we move on from it too fast and it doesn't feel like a living breathing world. Anna's motivations are quite poor and while I get that we wouldn't have a movie without this central conflict, it could have been communicated with a bit more patience. Despite the first portion of the movie covering it, by the time the movie gets into it, I just didn't buy the relationship between Anna and Elsa until the halfway mark of the movie. The Bad: I don't think the movie does a great job with establishing the central conflict. The characters are lovable and well written it's hard not to like SOMEONE here, if not the entire roster of characters. When the newly crowned Queen Elsa accidentally uses her power to turn things into ice to curse her home in infinite winter, her sister Anna teams up with a. I personally don't *love* all of them, but the musical numbers give the movie a bouncy, fun vibe. Frozen has three big things going for it.the songs, the characters and the interesting subversion of tropes.
Watching this 8 years later as a grown adult, I can say that I totally understand why this movie became a phenomenon.
The Good: Back in 2013, Frozen became a bona fide phenomenon, on the level that I honestly can't recall for an animated movie.
